Association of Rural Women of Almaguer

AMURACI

Located in the Colombian Massif

Municipality of Almaguer, Department of Cauca

Almaguer sits at the heart of the Colombian Massif — the “star of waters” where five great river systems are born, including the Magdalena and the Cauca.

At altitudes between 1,500 and 3,800 metres, its páramos and cloud forests regulate the water supply for millions of Colombians downstream, making ecological restoration here a national priority.

Our Mission

Our mission is clear: to defend women's rights, protect the environment through a sustainable ecological economy, and achieve food sovereignty by rescuing our native seeds and ancestral traditions.

History of AMURACI

Founded in 2016, we are located in the municipality of Almaguer, Cauca.

Since 2018, our participation in the Gran Vía Verde project marked a turning point in our production capacity.

In 2019, AMURACI submitted the project 'Mujeres del Corazón del Macizo Colombiano, cosechando agua para sembrar vida' to the A Ciencia Cierta competition.
